    Mini-gauges... Anybody ever seen these?

    While cruising Ebay, I ran across these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=p5197.c0.m619

    Description says the gauges themselves are only 1" in diamenter, but I'm wondering if they're removable from their plastic enclosure for a custom mount. I'd bet these aren't waterproof as-is, so I doubt if you could just stick these on. But their small size and all-electronic operation would make them perfect for a bike install if you could suitably modify them.

    Listed as NOS, that means they're a probably long-discontinued item so it's not likely you'll find any info on them, so I'm hoping somebody here may have had a set....

      Hey Steve,

      No experience with gauges/company, but a search revealed the company
      Dixson Inc.,"old" listing to be in Grand Junction, Colo, as shown in the 3rd ebay photo, but all of the other search results show sites for REPAIR/SERVICE of Dixco gauges and other electrical diagnostic equipment, no active listing for the actual Dixson company. They were apparently known for their hood mounted tachometers for cars, as well as other OEM style gauges.

      So...like you said...NOS, most likely a defunct gauge company.

          Yeah, I wasn't sure if Dixco was still around or not; at one time they were one of only a few companies offering aftermarket automotive gauges. I know in the early 60s, if you ordered a 'factory' tach, you got either a Dixco or one of the early Sun units. The Dixco was favored as it didn't need an external sending unit like the Sun's did unless you got a CDI ignition (rare) as the Dixco wouldn't hook to those...

              Autogauge makes 1-1/2" units, the pods here are made of 1-1/2" PVC pipe caps.

                  I've looked at those too, but at 1.5" in diameter, a bit bigger than what I'm looking for. The Dixco are only 1"....

                      Very nice! I like the PVC cap idea! Are the mounting brackets actually re-purposed headlight support brackets?

                          The brackets are an old support bracket for the standard gauge set, cut in half. Each pod used 1/2.
