I am considering buying, but the reviews i've seen are not positive, any first hand knowledge would be good. what i hear is stories about thread damage, poor fit, not really seeing much of a differance, etc.

I swear by it. There is no way I'd be able to get the precision tuning offered by the colortune any other way. Maybe my ears just aren't tuned as well as some, but the colortune plug shows that 1/16th of a turn makes a difference in adjusing the screws, and I can't hear that change. I just used mine this last weekend, and it made all the difference. Sync was good, but it wasn't running quite right. After the colortune, it just runs smoother.1980 XS850SG - Sold
