    More Adventures in XS1100F rebuild!!!

I have posted more photos on http://jimpphoto.freeprohost.com/Yamaha. New are yam023-yam030. I took the brake calipers apart and cleaned them, as well as the Master Cylinder, and the test was pretty good, but not on the bike yet. I got a center stand from eBay. And, I now have the front wheel off and am working on that (8 hours yesterday!!!). If you all are tired of my adventures, please let me know. Jim

You should keep using the same original thread for all your updates rather than creating a new thread each time you update. That way people later on can follow through your buildup and see what you have done rather than just seeing one update at a time.

Ok, I will take your suggestion and post any questions I have right here and let that be the only place I post. I think that will work better, and be better for the group.

More work progress...XS1100F...sitting for 25 years.

10/25/11: Well, I am starting on the front end. Good place to start I guess. I re-did the front wheel, and am polishing the front lower forks. Had to take a FINE wire brush (on an electric drill), then used a buffing wheel with WHITE jewler's rouge and it turned out pretty well. The wheel hub was a real B%$#H to get done and masked and painted, but it looks OK now, I think. New photos are yam031 to yam036.

The wheel? How did you clean out the areas in the spokes? Did you use just regular old spray paint can stuff?

                Clean out the spokes.....

I cleaned it with de-greaser and then wire brushed and then polished the shiny parts and then masked and painted with high heat engine paint. Worked pretty well. Jim It was a small wire brush.
