  • Seat issues

I've been searching the forum for a couple of hours now and have come to the conclusion that I've got the wrong seat on my 80G.
I kinda already had an idea that this was the case, my TCI is being squashed by the seat. so much so that the plastic inner fender has broken in a couple of places to allow the TCI to drop.
So, What seat do I have????
I think it might be from a special because the side covers are partialy covered on the top and the seat has had a modification on the front tab to 'lengthen' it so it'll fit under the hook near the tank.
I guess that's what I get for buying it blindly off ebay 2 years ago.

The metal of the pan is in great shape, the vinyl stiching is shot and pieces are coming off. You might be able to see it in my avatar pic.

I'll post pics tommorow after I get some sunlight.

So the search begins..... Looking for an 80G (or 81H) seat. (preferably one of those big wide king seats)

Please post a pic. I have a similar situation. I have a 1979 1100F. I got a deal on a new cover and foam- it is not for my 79F pan. I put it on anyway and it doesnt look or fit correct. I am not sure what my new cover and pad goes to but I THINK its for an 80 and later standard model. It is very high quality vinyl and foam.

Maybe these pics will help you a bit.

      Left to right they are:
      a Mustang aftermarket seat for a 79SF, a 78E original seat, a 80G (I think), a 81LH original seat, a 80SG original seat, a 79SF original seat (to the best of my knowledge).

The last pic is of course bass ackwards to the others so it is right to left.
Notice all of the differences like the height of the front and rear portions of the seats, as well as the differences in the shape of the pan itself.
And yes I have a few around here....

You may have to right click the pics to get the properties so you can view them in more detail. Or go to http://s285.photobucket.com/albums/ll77/Rasputin460/

That last seat on the right isn't a 79SF seat, got an all OEM an no springs in the back or any of that other stuff under, just two nuts to hold her down and a tonuge in front, sounds like a great 1st date

Same seat on both my 79SF's so that is why I think it is what I say. Could be wrong though...have been before and will again...just ask my Wife!
Left to right on first pics and right to left on the last pic.
