    Crankshaft Main shells

    G'day to all,

    Stava here,

    can anyone tell me where I may be able to find crankshaft main bearing sets???

    Pleeeaaasse, any and all help greatly appreciated.

    And to all a Merry Xmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year

    There have been a couple on Ebay recently but I'm not sure if they sold or not. You might try using 'bearing' or 'crank' as part of an Ebay search along with XS, and restrict your search to finished auctions.

      Stava, got a complete set a few years back from Zanotti Motors , also got rod big end bearings.

          I got em new from my yamaha dealer. Bout 100 - 120$. Only the crank ones.... 5 of em (10 halves), there are 4 (8) more for the conrods.
          I have 2 used sets tho... one is in not-so-good-but-working condition, the other one needs a good scrub and a measurement if its any good.
          Be careful when u buy em. They are color coded.... yellow, green, brown, blue. Get the same color u had now. It can be seen on the sides of the bearings.
          If you plan to keep the bike for a while, get a new set.

            Many thanks to all for assistance ,I will follow the leads given and hope for the best.
            They do appear to be rare as hens teeth, but persistence pays...huh?

                Bearing sizes

                There are two sets of numbers stamped into one of the counterwieghts on the left hand end the crankshaft that relate to bearing sizes. The set of five numbers is for the mains, and the set of four relates to the rods. Each rod has a number inked on it. The number from the rod will be larger than the number on the crank. Subtract the crank number from the rod number. That is the number for that particular rod/journal. The numbers for the main journals can be found on the front, upper case where the two upper engines mounts go. That number will be larger than the ones found on the crankshaft. Subtract the number on the crankshaft from the number found on the crankcase. That is the number for the main bearings. The sizing for the thrust bearing is the same procedure.
                I had difficulty seeing the color on the back side of the inserts, so I had to do the math. I have a number to color conversion chart. The numbers convert to the following colors:


                Mains Rods
                1 Blue 1
                2 Black 2
                3 Brown 3
                4 Green 4
                5 Yellow 5

                I replaced my crankshaft bearings years ago, and this is the conversion I got from my local dealer. I had found that every bearing on the crank was one size too big. That's why it was rattling.

                  I have black, brown green and yellow sets. I used the blue ones and paid 164.99 for all 5 sets.
