  • Tkat fork brace - I'm a believer!

Hidey ho mi amigos. A while back I lamented that my 11s handling left much to be desired. Well I found two things that have dramatically altered this situation for the better. First, I decided to read the manual and realized I was running about 5psi low in both tires. If you care to lecture me, I deserve it. That alone made a noticeable difference. However, I still had a wallowing in the sweepers that was sometimes scary. I mentioned in a previous thread that when locking the front wheel between my legs and twisting on the bars there was a LOT of flex in the fork. Well, I finally got around to installing my Tkat fork brace and did the same test and there is definitely less than half the flex now - no doubt about it. My test ride has also confirmed a definite and significant improvement. In general, the bike is more responsive and in the high speed bumpy sweepers there is no wallowing unless you really push it. As you can tell, I am very happy with this purchace. I highly recommend to anyone who doesn't have one to get one if you can afford the approximately 85 bucks the guy charges. He has good service and and excellent product. The fit, finish and function are all there!

          However,

Due to inflation, metal costs, etc, he's raised his cost a bit, a little over $100 now, but still definitely worth it!! He's on vacation right now, so won't be able to respond/reply to any purchase inquiries for a couple of weeks, just wanted to post this for folks that might be trying to contact him(TKAT) to get one, not ME...I'm only Topcat!

I also placed a TKAT fork brace on my bike and noticed a vast improvement in handling. I am not necessarily endorsing TKAT's brace (which is very well made . . . ok so maybe a little). I have heard that other fork braces have likewise made the bike handle better in the curves. The bike is heavy and with two discs and calipers hanging low on the fork, I think this creates a lot of torsion in the forks as you're sweeping back and forth through some turns.

I can't believe how much more enjoyable the bike is now. I used to do the hiney pucker thing when approaching most corners. No more though!

I installed the emulators and with them improperly tuned (too stiff), I can really see how flimsy the forks are. I can see it very well even with TKAT brace on it. I'm sure the bike benefits from a fork brace.
