  • Exhaust gasket substitute?

I was planning to ride to Barber today for the Vintage Fest. As luck would have it, My #2 header came loose and I lost the head to header gasket. Do any of you know of an Ace Hardware replacement to save my weekend? Ace is all I have.

You could see if they have some rope packing for a wood stove door. Should hold up to the heat.

If you have a bike shop around you, they might have something laying around. OD: 44MM, ID: 33MM. Maybe make something out of an old head gasket, JAT. Hope you get to make it to the show!

        Hi Marty,
rob one out of your XS650? How come you didn't lose the inside out header nuts too?

          Fred,

XS650 way too big. Phil, thanx for the dimensions. There's only a Guzzi place. Must have Guzzi Part number. I used a piece of 16 GA copper wire from the hardware store. I'm going for it! It seems to work well enough.

Yep! A 16 ga piece of copper wire was the trick. I'll replace it as soon as one shows in the mail.

              Was that solid or stranded?

                  I used solid copper wire.

Thanx for the gasket offer. I ordered some up a few days ago.
