I have an old seat pan that I think cam from a 79 if your interested. Cost of shipping and it's yours. It is a little rusty and the rear mount brackets are missing.

I also have a 79 standard seat and pan that the front part of the pan is rusted through but may be able to reinforce with fiberglass. I can post pictures of both when I get home from work.

jwhughes3 - can you elaborate on what welded studs would they look like and what to use under mounting points is a good question. I like your plate idea if shipping for parts becomes too pricey I will try this for sure!!! Thanks

tcoop - dude thanks will 1 or both seatpans fit a 81-81 XS1100? And how hard would it be to remove the foam and leather cause thats all i need and im thinking costwise shipping to germany is gonna cost a arm and a leg!!!

I can test them on my 81 special but with it being just the pan you probably could hamer it to make it fit with the TCI.

I think the one pan (that does not have the foam) is from the 79 Special the pan that is partly rusted out (that hase the foam) is from a 79 standard it would not take much to remove the foam and cover.

The German '81 should be more like the US '78-'79 standard.

              steel tractor seat

I used an old steel seat pan from a tractor. I took my seat off, set the tractor seat on(with side covers and tank still on), then started marking my outline with soapstone. I cut it out with my angle grinder and cut off wheel and rounded the edges. The tractor seat made for a great shaped pan, and the rise in the middle covers the tank bolt ever so nicely. I'm using a good quality sleeping bag pad as the cushion and covering it with leather. The bracket is going to be made out of 1 and 2 inch flatbar with bolts welded to back and shock rubbers underneath to dampen the feel in the seat.
