  • Carb kits?

Thinking about going through my carbs this winter. Had a stuck float this summer and the two I took off definitely needed a cleaning. No major problems since, but they at least could use a good cleaning. Once the bike runs for about a minute on choke or half choke it starts popping. Turn the choke off and it runs fine. Have synched it with the carb tune but it still pops when choked.

Is the best place to get carb kits Georgefix? Or am I going overboard by putting kits in all four? Just thought it would be easier to do it over the winter than having to rip it apart in the summer. What do you guys think?

    I like Georgefix very much.

However, I have found that most of the time a good cleaning will do the job. Be very careful with the diaphragms and the float bowl gasket as you disassemble. There are lots of good posts here and on the Suzuki forum re: working on these carbs.

There is a particularly good .pdf tutorial on: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Scroll down on the page and look for Mikuni BS(CV) Carburetor Rebuild Tutorial. It has a rotating NEW in front of it. It is for carbs off a Suzuki but they are, essentially, the same layout (BS34 carbs).

Sold all my XS's to Eastcoaster but still love to keep up with you guys. This is the best cycle forum on the web.

Reuse your original jets and just get the needle and seat and bowl gaskets. Most aftermarket are not correct and don't work well.
