No Scott, there is a washer that goes in there but it's supposed to be above the seal trucker. Between the seal and the snap ring.

As far as I can tell it's just a spacer and there to protect the seal and snap ring from each other. If it's good enough to keep doing that job I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah, I know that, Greg, I just did the one's on my '79.

From what I can make out of, "changeing my fork seals," he's asking about getting at/changing the "seal under the seal," and wants to know where to buy new ones. The first seal would be the dust cover and second seal would be below the snap-ring/spacer.

Or he's really working on his front brakes and mistyped fork seal instead of caliper seal.

But, I can see what your saying. But I can't see having a "Hell of a time" getting the dust boots off.

D'oh! I think you're right, Greg! It's right up there in the Subject line I didn't read where he wrote "spacer".

I try not to read the body of the post, either, it disturbs the feng shui of my reply....

Trucker, I have a toasted set of '79 Special forks that that I just finished replacing with some slightly less-toasted forks. The seals are no good but you can have the spacers, clips, dust boots or whatever else I can pry off of them before they head out to the great recycle bin in the sky!
