  • UK spares

    Hi chaps,

all those in the UK - who do you think is the best bet to use for spares like filters and gaskets etc. etc.

Don't want to use local bike shops (no Yam dealer anyway) cos they allways say "I can order it for ya mate", then it takes four weeks to come, so may as well cut out the middleman!

    Seasons greetings to all,
    Herbie.

hi herbie, what i would do is ring yamaha uk on 01932358000.ask for spares.you would be better of with the original part no,and ask if they are still available and how long they would take, you will get a better answer of them, the problem with xs1100s is no one stocks anything know as they are to old.were are you in the uk?you can give me a email on scoobes@blueyonder.co.uk for oil filters and stuff i get it from my local bike dealer in crosby merseyside as he has them on the shelf, there are something that are still used on modern bikes, lie the fork seals and dust covers.it is better to wait 4 weeks for the genuin part ,at least then you will know they will fit, which xs have you got.

        Hi Herbie,

I agree, getting hold of parts in the UK is a pain. Scoobes is right, do try Yamaha directly.

        My usual search order is
        1) M&P catalogue (via MandP.com)
        2) Local Yamaha parts shop (go in offpeak and chat = lots of advice)
        3) Approach Yamaha directly
        4) Panic...
        5) Cunningly arrange family holiday in US (I can now recommend Bobs boneyard, Phoenix !)
        Brian
        XS1100 LG "Mr T", SG "ICBM" & FJ1200
Check out the XS Part Number Finder

Be not stingy in what costs nothing as courtesy, counsel and countenance.
