  • 3H5 to 3J6

I have a 3H5 1980 G and a local guy is selling a 3J6 engine. Do these parts intercahnge? I have 2 cylinders that don't pass a leak down check and wanted to get this engine to exchange parts. Will it work?

No worries. Basically the same engine, just a different bike.

    3J6 is an 80 special and a 3H5 is an 80 standard.

If the engine is the good working engine you can just swap in the other engine, which is the easiest fastest method. Trying to mix parts is something to do ONLY if you don't have a complete donor engine.

        +1 on that. I currently have a 2H7 engine from a 79 standard in my 80 special.

Thanks all. The most important thing is the head and valves. Everything else is good on my bike. Don't think this one is complete.
