Will a 140/80-17 metzeler ME880 marathon rear tire fit my bike. xs1100e 1978. Do not want to buy one and it not fit. Help please!!!! thanks.

Any 130/90-17 will fit. There are only a select few 140/90-17's that will for and it must be without raised white lettering. I can't say for sure if thay tire will fit but I would say its a gamble that you are more likely to lose at...Nathan

The lower profile tire he's looking at might fit better than a 140/90. It really depends on the tire. I have that tire on my XS11, but in the 130 size.The glorious rays of the rising sun exist only to create shadows in which doom may hide.

I sort of skimmed across the number and missed that it was an 80 rather than the 90. Either way its a gamble.Nathan

In a 17" tire, the largest available tire that will fit is a 130/90-17. Nobody makes a 140/90-17, and the lower aspect ratio models are all too wide....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
