Any 130/90-17 will fit. There are only a select few 140/90-17's that will for and it must be without raised white lettering. I can't say for sure if thay tire will fit but I would say its a gamble that you are more likely to lose at...

      Tire size

I have a 140/90/16 inch on my 80 XS1100SG special. Its a Dunlop Elite II with raised white lettering. The rubber is like a 16th of an inch from the swing arm but does not touch.

The lower profile tire he's looking at might fit better than a 140/90. It really depends on the tire. I have that tire on my XS11, but in the 130 size.

I sort of skimmed across the number and missed that it was an 80 rather than the 90. Either way its a gamble.

Nope, won't fit.... Metzler doesn't show actual tire dimensions on their site, but a Dunlop in that size shows as about 5.65" wide; I'm reasonably sure that the Metzler will be very close to that (give or take .05"). The maximum 'safe' tire width you can fit is 5.4"; maybe 5.5" if you're lucky in how deep the 'relief' in the drive tube is.

In a 17" tire, the largest available tire that will fit is a 130/90-17. Nobody makes a 140/90-17, and the lower aspect ratio models are all too wide....
