  • It lives!!

All done with the piston replacement and new rings. Fired up on the 2nd crank. (with an assist from some jumper cables)
Had a fuel leak on the inlet to the carb. (fixed with a hose clamp)
Blew all kinds of blue smoke out the right pipe. (Leftover oil from the failed compression test on #4)
Set the idle to about 1K and rode down the road for the break in.
Rev up / rev down. (mostly 2nd/3rd gear) Ran that way for about 30-mins, went and got some gas and air in the tires.
Found a crappy connection in the fuse block. (lost the tach and neutral light a few times) (I plan on re-upgrading my box with TC's fix)
(She hasn't been on the road for about 6 months now)
So, last night got her ready to go so I could ride her to work this morning,
Wouldn't you know it, IT'S RAINING. (supposed to all week)
Screw it, I geared up, waited for a break in the rain and rode it to work.
WOOPIEE!!! Man it feels good to ride again.
List of things still to do:
A few oil changes during this break in period, Sync with my new homemade rig, Fork seals, Valve shims, Sidegap the plugs, Vmax autotensioner, Fuse box upgrade and eventually a new seat.

I love this bike and probably will never get anything other than another XS. (maybe a project bike HEHE)
I couldn't have done it without all you guys' help and comments. THANK YOU.
Once I gett a pic and figure out how to post to my signature line I'll do it.
ps. I'll post the details about the sync rig that I'm making. (way inexpensive too)

They sure do get under your skin. (and fingernails) I love getting 30year old dirt and grease all over the place. (To bad the wifey hates the mess I make)
            Blood, Sweat & Tears.
You really can't call it your own until you've expended all 3.

So, I did my first oil change a couple of days ago, WOW. sparkley!
I guess I didn't wipe down all my parts as good as I thought, so all that leftover wd-40 and other cleaners mixed in with the oil and when that stuff drained out, it had the consitancy of water. Good thing I only put about 50 miles on that oil.
Sync coming up this weekend. I wanted to get one tank full thru her first, so I can compare MPGs before and after the sync. I think I'll gonna do the side gap mod too.
