  • Pilot screws For XSWilly

I just did the same repair on my 78's carbs. The screws were tapered to a point , and I broke them off in the carb bodys (^%#), but was able to extract them. I talked to a man named Robert at motorcyclecarbs.com, and he was very helpful. He has the proper OEM Yamaha screws in stock, unless I just wiped out his inventory, but I don't think I did that. His price is $15 per screw including shipping and he ships by Priorty Mail. His is VERY knowledgable aboubt these carbs, and he helped me out a whole lot. Give him a call if you have any questions. He is in Atlanta. I would recommend that you don't try to drill them out before you talk to him about the procedure.

P.S. Hey Willy, If I were to say "wicked" or "Ayuh" could you guess were I'm from?

    pilot screw part number

Willy, the Yamaha part number for the pilot screws for yur bike is: 2A2-14923-00. These are the screws that I bought from motorcyclecarbs.com for my 78E. After seeing what kind of weather you just got, I'd say you have plenty of time to get your ride up and running. Are you located up in 'The County'?
    Good Luck

Willy, if you don't want to buy new screws, I just happen to have two of the with the pointy tips still intact. I replaced all four of mine with new. If you'd like them, e-mail me at wknj@hotmail.com, and we'll talk about it.

          Maine-iac

Ayuh! I grew up in Fairfield, near Waterville. About 90 miles from you. Graduated Lawrence High School in '75. Left in 77 for the Navy, went to an aircraft carrier, USS Kitty Hawk, in San Diego untill 81, and transferred to NAS Brunswick, Me. I got out of the Navy in 82, and moved to Chicago in 84, and got hired by American Airlines, and transferred to Dallas in 89. I'll tell you, I miss playing in the white stuuf, but I don't miss living in it! I grew up shoveling it, and I don't want to grow old shoveling it Good luck with your carbs. If you want my used, but still intact pointy pilot screws, just let me know. I have no use for them any more.
