    Hey everyone. I just syched my carbs with a motion pro mercury stick. Everything was pretty close other than #4 was low. Anyways, after a bit there started to get some clear fluid in the lines on top of the mercury. I'm assuming that is is fuel. But I don't understand how that would happen. I mean its a vacuum so there wouldn't be anything getting sucked into the lines.

    Now a more serious question. The fluid in the line from #2 cylinder was dirty. Like almost black. What would cause that? I thought maybe in was some contaminates in the mercury bulb on the stick (it's borrowed from a friend). But if that was the case wouldn't all of the lines be dirty not just the one from #2?

    Any ideas?

    Might ought to adjust the valves FIRST, bettin #2 is way off......rest are out of spec. too.

      I agree with Moto......you do the carb. sync. last.....then adj. the idle. As for the black fluid???.....there is no telling what has happened at your friends place with the meter.

        If you have liquid on the mercury you can likely absorb it with a piece of tissue if you can access it in the reservoir. Mercury is so much heavier than water or oil, you can just read the tops of the mercury columns without any consequence.
