Hey motoman, with a technical eye toward things, the only rpm that hp and torque can be the same is approx 5250 rpm. Before that engine speed, torque is always higher than hp and hp is higher than torque after that engine speed. For the XS, peak torque is around 6500 rpm and peak hp at 8000 rpm according to the period tests.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

        Hi hbonser,
After BDF had set up my 81H he ran it on the dyno.
Peak hp was at 7200rpm and it was pretty flat to past 8000.
Bike runs much better these days with a different set of carbs with Dynojet kit. I do not know if it makes more or less HP but it sure is nicer to ride with excellent throttle response more important to my riding style.

I've been riding my wife's XJ1100 (while I build mine) and it's been getting 40 mpg riding mixed highway and in town riding. My style of ridding is excelerate hard and keep the rpm's up while in the twisties. It does not run the best untill I get into the main jets (need to rebuild the carbs soon).

Understand that..................not true for max ponies on the 80-XJ's tho. Either way, the 7500rpm figure hits the ballpark middle....but, who looks at that when the right hand has a twitch.......?
