  • exhaust gaskets

Good evening, I have the original exhausts and am wondering if anyone knows if other bikes exhausts gaskets would be compatable with ours. I need to replace the three big copper/brass gaskets at the header and cross over connections.

    Hi Mack,
not the cylinder head gaskets but the crush sleeves?
I replaced those last year, bought them at my local Yamaha dealer. Not cheap but they can still get them.

      I'll try

I'll check but I was on the yamaha site and they showed up with a large red triangle. I figured that meant they were no longer available. Would the 650 use the same one?

Seriously doubt those gaskets have been discontinued.............too many scoots use the same gaskets. 3JJ-14653-00 is the lower crush sleeves for the two head pipes and the crossover. 4BE-14613-00 is the head to header gaskets. That's taken right off the packaged ones I have. Heck, even the kickstand rubber bumpers are still available................

The old ones were made with a copper jacket, inside and out, with a fiber liner between them. The new ones are a fiber tube, which means that when you pull them apart, if there is any rust or corrosion in the joint, it tends to tear the fiber up, causing a larger gap when reassembled, and possible leakage. And they are rather expensive.
I have an old muffler from a Honda that has the original style gasket, but I haven't found out from the number what it came off of. You might take your old gasket to a Honda dealer and see if any of the parts guys can tell by looking at it if they have them. Sadly, those kind of parts men seem to be a dying breed. CZ

Just out of curiosity, how much did they cost, each?
Seems like I paid close to 20 dollars for one, a year ago.
And it was one from a Yamaha dealer, and one of the all fiber ones. No joy CZ
