With the leading axle they aren't standard forks, but specials also need to have the same thing done, but need it done for BOTH sides, not just one, your just lucky it was only one side it was needed for.

You still need to get either a fork brace or fender back on there for safe handling or as you have found, it's gonna be twitchy. The only thing tying those forks together at the bottom is the axle and the way it's setup let them move. The fender helps hold them in place in relation to each other, and a fork brace does it even better. If all the front end geometry were stock you might not notice it, but with the strange geometry, you need all the stability you can get. I see your working on the fender so it looks like you intend for it to go back on when you get done painting, so things should be better. From the pictures the paint job looks pretty good, don't know about that dude on the bike though.

Yah, the paint is nice. the weirdo painting them is the problem!

I am going to a cycle graveyard this weekend in hopes to find a standard I can steal parts off of. If not, I'm going to pick up/build a fork brace.

I did 200 miles this weekend, and she felt pretty good. Definitely stiffened up a bit with the front fender back on.
