Yep..using the yics eliminator.. That's what started all of this.. I gave up for the night. I threw the fuel lines and tank back on and took it around the block..overall feels okay but getting pops in the intake here and there.

I started to think about what else I changed.. I plasti dipped my boots and cut new gaskets about a month ago.......found the bolts were loose...a few burns later and got them tight. I did put loctite on them when I tightened them down, but they must have broken loose. it didn't show up with the propane but they could have just been so far off at the time.

The charging system will be the next battle after this.

Just making sure, if the o-ring is squashed even a little bit, it won't work right as can cause problems. Unlike the older carbs, for some reasons the newer carbs seem to suck air if those are not almost perfect. Also, the o-rings have to be on the bottom of the stack, with the washer between it and the spring, it's it's not that way it won't work right, and if you put it together another way, they o-rings are ruined now.

I was careful to put them back together properly. I watched a video some time ago where the guy demonstrated cleaning carbs and I specifically remembered the part where he put the mixture screw back in wrong

Now that I have eliminated my prime and the miles of fuel line to the octy, I have plenty of line to lift the tank enough to get to all of my sync screws. I guess I'm synching tomorrow evening after work and trying the mixture screws again!

Sounds like what I did, installed a new battery, lightly seated all the screws turning the mixture screws out 3 turns and idle screws out 2 turns as a baseline. Then turned the tank around and placed it where the seat mounts to get it out of the way and hooked the tank directly to the carbs.

It all seemed to come together after that so its off to get an inspection sticker tomorrow. Would like to take a long ride but since June 13th we have had 65 days 100+ degrees so far its been a brutal summer.

A weak battery can cause all kinds of problems. Has yours been load tested recently?

Nope, but should be easy enough - pull the cables and crank the starter and watch the voltmeter for the lowest voltage reading.

I hate to bump this thread back up, but I'm getting ready to get back in for another try. I just read about setting the mixture by checking vacuum at the intakes and I definitely prefer a scientific approach as apposed to feel for the first time!

Apparently, I'm looking for maximum vacuum at normal idle as I lean out the mixture? If that's what I'm after, I can go by feel after I at least get in the ballpark!

You will probably need to turn the mixture screws out an 1/8 to 1/4 turn once you have found maximum vacuum. Of course you will need to re-synch after that.
