  • Rubber vacuum caps vs. vinyl?

The rubber caps keep cracking and allowing vacuum leaks, and all I had left was some vinyl ones. Does anyone know if they stand up to heat better? They look goofy seeing as how they are colored, but right now they are serving their purpose. If they prove a better fix, I might just leave them on.

Yep, I got a few of those vinyl caps on now, they do seem to last much longer than the rubber type.

Even better would probably be viton ones if you can find them. The higher quality ones you can find the better off you will be as well, as the cheaper ones will not last as long. But they are just one of those things that you often have to change on a regular basis. So far I have had to do mine about every 2 years.

And the last set I had to peel off in pieces.

The big difference I think is how well they withstand heat. Most vinyl doesn't like getting hot, but if the ones you have fitted are holding up, they should be fine...
