  • the neverending fight against low rpm stumble . . .

so i'm getting close to eliminating the low rpm stumble. like many xs's out there my engine is not smooth below 3000-3500 RPM.

i'm getting closer than i've ever been. my plug 2 was quite lean, adjusting the mixture screw didn't help but i raised the number 2 float 1 or 2mm and that seems to have eliminated the slight popping i was getting at idle or decel sometimes.

the other plugs look pretty perfect but perhaps they are a little lean.

since i adjusted carb 2, there is MUCH less low rpm stumble. I drove to work this morning and had basically no stumble! but coming home in the heat after about 20mins I have lots of stumble.

does this offer any clues that might help me out?

when adjusting the mixture screw which was makes it richer?

ps my carbs are synced (love my new carbtune)

Left(out)...........helps to know this prior to tuning..........better go through the whole sequence again, including sync.

I found the secret to getting the idle circuit right was using a colortune. Great tool.
