      Hi Mike,
because you posted it's photo, that's why. Going public with your bike's photo is an open invitation for members to critique it.
Getting huffy about it will really encourage us.

I left them onto break up all the flat black I went with. I have since carefully sanded away the black paint on the side covers to reveal the aluminum. Bike Boys XS is fantastic looking.
How about painting the fender? Thus keeping the function but blending it into the rest of the bike better color wise?

Um, I seem to recall one of the messages asking about how to achieve the different look of the other bike, followed by the picture of your bike. That of course will start a critique of your bike. That said, you're the one that has to like how it looks, but if you ask how you might achieve a look, expect to get LOTS of opinions on ways to get there.

Original question was what did Bike Boy use for a tail light and blinkers. He has not replied to my personal email yet- so I went on the board with it. I am not a professional or amateur bike designer- just painting over chrome and aluminum which is stained/tarnished and rusted excessively. I have a total of $1100 into this bike (a little at a time over time!) When I see something on another bike that looks nice I like to ask what where and how $$.

Mike, for what it is worth to you, I saw nothing where you asked for opinions about your bike, and I for one do not think that posting a pic of your bike should equate to asking the world if they like your color selection of what add ons you have put on the bike, or your hair style for that matter. I do think one soiuld expect and accept to hear about the functional and or safety issues with any planned modifications they are asking about, like removing fenders or going to smaller signals and such, we should all be given the best opportunity to make educated decisions about the things we are going to do.

How this got round to the look of your engine guards is beyond me. I have personal experience with how well they fold up in an accident and the fact is one of them may have caused me to get tossed off the bike by catching the road edge. And you will find a set on my crrent bike.

And I have no idea where or how he got those lights.

                Hi DGXSER,
Mike started it himself, see post#8.
And I got no idea neither. What I'd do is bury an LED stop/tail inside the bumstop, cut a window for it to look out of and cover the window slot in thin red see-through plastic to fair it in.
Small aftermarket signals can be bought anywhere.

I dig the look of bikeboy's ride. No clue on how to replicate it though.

Sometimes we see mods that really stand out. I could never stand what Chip Foose would do to musclecars on that show Overhaulin- but many liked what he did. I like what bikeboy did but some may not like the changing of what the factory did. I can respect that.
