See...I look at all these engines painted and I can't help but wanna do it as I sit here at work LOL. Who uses what paint, and does the whole engine have to come off the bike and come apart? Thinking it will be a winter project anyways but I wanna be ready with the plan of attack and the correct paint and environment. The more I see the engine's painted the more I feel like I need to do it on mine. Looks a lot cleaner and I like the black with sanded fins. Other possiblities are lower forks, fenders, wheels, exhaust, and I looked at it yesterday and today and the more I look at it the more I think the footrest brackets HAVE to be painted to match the frame. Not sure why they wouldn't do that in the first place. Tank will also be repainted. Oh the joys of owning and customizing a motorcycle. They are soo fun. Still working on the 73 RD350 right now. Till that sells the XS will stay as-is.

Hey James- I just noticed your rear turn signals are in the rear fender, versus the frame. Is that stock, or did you move those to accomodate luggage? This is a "beauty"!

There is an adapter bracket to move the turn signals to the license plate frame to clear the saddle bags.

His are stock, the euro version has a number of detail differences compared to the US models (look closely at his foot controls; completely different). The bracket Nate mentioned is an accessory part sold in the US when installing bags.
