The bike didn't have a centerstand when I bought it. Just wondering what the stock exhaust is on an 81 special. From the threads that I have read it looks like some exhausts won't accommodate a centerstand. I don't want to buy a centerstand if it isn't going to fit on the bike.

I have a Mac 4 into 2 on my SG and the center stand fits. Most 4 into 1s won't allow the center stand as far as I know.Greg

What do you mean, what the stock exhaust was?
This is what the stock system looks like. You can't see both sides but it's a 4 into 2 with a crossover chamber under the bike.

I figured what I had wasn't the stock exhaust. Which, by your picture, it isn't. Now it makes sense why it doesn't have a centerstand. And if I wanted to add one, I would have to change the exhaust. Thanks. That's what I was looking for.Ryan

That pic is of an 80 with some 79 parts mixed in but the exhaust will be the same on the specials 79-81.Greg

But yes it is. Obviousy one someone has revitalized since it is an SG with SF brake rotors on it. Standard bars too.Greg

Yeh, and it doesn't have the skid mark on the seat that Greg has.

If you could post a pic, we may be able to tell you what make of exhaust you have, and whether a centerstand will work. My Jardine 4 into 1 works with one, and I had a Kerker 4 into 1 that did too.1979 Yamaha XS1100SF (gone)
