I think I have something less than 10k on the ME88 because I remember riding nearly 10k one of the first two summers I had the bike. That means it could have about 6.5k to 8k on it realistically ... Id rather pay for the cheaper 712 if performance is the same... time will tell.

All those tires in that low of miles, could the frame be bent or something? It just seems no matter how hard you ride you should get a LOT more than that.

For the most part, not gonna happen. Manufacturers some 8-10yrs. ago moved the softer shoulder componds to center with even softer compounds towards sidewalls. Definitely majority of tire brands will hold the road well cornering, but pay for it mileage wise. Same brand, tread pattern tires I used 30yrs. ago now get half the mileage they used too. The compound location changes were verbalized to me from a local dealership by their purchasing dept. With some occassional mixed spirited riding and mountain twisties along with 75-80mph slab riding, the 12-16K I used to get on rear tires has long been in the past.

I just replaced the shinko 721's on my '80 xs11 special. about 7,500 miles on them, the rear is almost to the wear bars and the front has about 40% of the tread left( I just don't like the way the front 712 handles). installed new shinko 777's and the front handles much better, the rear is about the same as before so no issue there. for the $180 total installed cost i'll be happy if I get 8,000 or so miles on these.

About 7K on my rear Metzeler ME880 and it's done. That's a generous estimate on the miles. It could be closer to 6K.

I could start another thread (maybe I still will) but was wondering if anyone has tried the balancing beads from Counteract. I can find the Dyna beads on ebay but when I search motorcycle wheel weights I get a lot of hits from Counteract and almost none for Dyna beads...

Im sure they do the same job but was wondering is anyone has any experience with the Counteract brand...?

Mounting tires yourself or otherwise, RideOn IS the better option, IMO.

I will look it up, I remember reading a little bit about it here but didnt consider it much (IDK why).

Anyways, I broke down and took my tires to a local shop and had them mount and balance them...ended up using the stick on weights.
