Parts and more parts. It is going to be a busy weekend. New Shinko front tire, re-built carbs, new seals and oil in the forks, new shocks, new mirrors, and a few miscellaneous parts.

I'm really impressed with the work Rick West at Oldskoolcarbs did on my carbs. They are better than new.

My God your bike is clean. It's looking far better than stock. Great job.

As promise I spent all day today working on the SF. I'll have it up and running tomorrow. Work done today:
          • Installed the new shocks.
          • Mounted the new mirrors.
          • Changed engine oil and filter. As I suspected the oil had a strong gasoline smell. I'm sure it was contaminated.
          • Put the front end back together. I had new seals and oil put in the fork tubes. Cleaned up the brake calipers. Buffed up the disks with emery paper. Note the new Shinko 712 on the front.
          • Installed the pipes. This was a major pain. It is really a two person job, but I got'em on there.
          • Installed the rebuilt carbs and air box. As you all know this is also a real pain.
          • Reinstalled the battery.

Tomorrow I'll hook up the fuel lines, and install the petcocks on the newly painted tank, install it. I'll put the side covers on, reinstall the seat and she should be ready to fire.

Well after some issues with the carbs leaking fuel out of the air box, I did get the old girl running today. There are some details left to take care of, but I officially declare this bike a runner. Thank you to all here who have helped with some great advice. This is by far the friendliest motorcycle forum I have ever dealt with. Video here. http://youtu.be/J7GGB86mPwQ

                Detals...Details.

Always nice to get a video showing a functional XSF.

You did remember to shut off the fuel petcocks when you put the bike to bed, right?

Very very nice. Looks even beter in the video! Sounds very nice also, little bit of tuning and synching perhaps, but runs like a champ!
