i can't seem to get the emulsion tube out of my carb and the piliot jet out of the hole after i unscrewed it as far as it would go and the emulsion tube i tried to get out with a pair of needle nose pliers. any ideas on any other methods i can try to get these out?

Get a piece of wooden towel rod and tap it out.
I know the manual says to pull it out with a pliers but honestly it F's the things up, check them over when you get them out and see if you bent the tops.Nathan

I belive he is saying the main jet is not coming out. If that is true then you need to unscrew it a bit more. The main jets are about $3-4 a piece so grab it with a pliers or something and keep unscrewing it until it falls out. It threads into the emulsion tube, so until it is all the way out and removed, you can not remove the emulsion tube.
After you get the main jet out, then I also would take a short piece of wood dowel and use it to drive the emulsion tube out of the carb. If alot of gas sat in the carbs for long, you may find you REALLY have to DRIVE it out of there. The set that was on Banshee had so much dried up gas in there it was like muddy sand was packed into the gap between the tube and the carb wall.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Agree with the above.
Pull off the cap and take out the slide and diaphragm. Be careful not to lose the spring at the bottom of the needle.
Pull off the carb bowl you can see the main jet and the bottom of the emulsion tube.
Lots of PB Blaster on the emulsion tube from both the top and bottom. Let it sit for a while.
Remove the main jet and it's washer (critical). At this point the emulsion tube is free in the carb (if it weren't gummed up).
Two ways to remove the emulsion tube. My favorite is to tap it out from the main jet side with a small piece of dowel. Be careful and take you time - may need another round of blaster. Second way is to reinstall the main jet (without the washer) and then tap on it with a hammer and screwdriver.
Clean the emulsion tube with a wire and a little, light scotch brite.
Reinstall. Be sure the cutout at the top of the emulsion tube is facing the engine.
Good luck. I've never had one that can't be removed with a little patience.

I did get the main jet all the way out and did pull the diaphragm and slide out but i will have to try some pb blaster on it, but also i can not get the pilot jet out of the hole it screws into i have it loose as far as it goes but i can not get it out so i need some ideas on that too. I have tried a piece of wire the fits in the hole of the jet and put a slight bend in it but it just bends straight again i can move it a bit but not all the way out.'79 XS11SF

You could try some compressed air, or carb cleaner spraying in thru the Pilot adjust Screw hole, or also from one of the inlet ports on the inlet of the carb.
Sounds like there might be a burr or something around the top of the pilot jet, or the inside of the pilot jet tunnel that is blocking it from being able to come/fall out?? Or some really strong carb/fuel/gum that's stuck to the bottom of the jet and to the carb body, allowing it to spin, but not come/break loose?
