Lost my Key WTF!!!!

OK, so my Clutch cable went out a few weeks ago. While I was waiting for a replacement cable to show up in the mail I lost my key..........Ya I know I'm ahh Dumb-ass. Anyways.... I've been looking everywhere for a replacement ignition switch online and am having no luck. Any Suggestions?

Key

Take the lock off and bring it to a locksmith. There is a number on the lock that he can use to cut you a new key. No need to panic.

Hey thanks man. Ya I just called a guy and they were saying its gonna cost atleast a hundo for them to come out and do it. Its gotta be cheeper if I bring it to them.

So I got lazy/smart and took off the helmet lock. That would be enough for them to make a key for it as well right? The same code thats on the ignition switch is on the helmet lock and the same key worked for both.... this sucks lol

It's best if you take the ignition switch in, as the secondary locks (helmet, gas cap, sidecover) don't use as many tumblers and a key that works in them may not work in the switch.

I wouldn't worry about that. The locksmith I use, an old biker dude, said that the side cover and helmet lock only use the end two or three notches of the key, but the number defines ALL the tumblers. Try your key in the tank, and see if it goes in all the way. Let us know, if you don't mind.
Mine goes into the tank all the way, but only half way into the side cover. (80G) CZ

Hi Jonny,
my old locksmith wants $40 and the number off the lock to cut you a new key. Copies cost $2 each. Get at least six. Put them here:-
Key ring.
Billfold.
Taped to inside of right-hand side cover.
Sock drawer.
Bank deposit box.
At your mom's place.
Hopefully you will never die of embarrassment again.

Wow! I took my locksmith the lock code and $7.00 for the blank! Took maybe four minutes total.

I had some keys made in Lafayette La and I think it cost me the blanks.plus a couple of bucks. That locksmith is trying to rip you a new one!

a couple of bucks is if you still have a key for the locksmith's key-copy machine to use as a master.
To find the key's cross-section and ward pattern from the 4-digit lock number is a different and more costly deal.

Used to live in New Iberia, Cade & Lafayette! Man do I miss the "Boiling Point" on 90 in-between Cade & Lafayette, The drive in frozen Daquiri shop on Johnson St, Friday night at Mulates in Breaux Bridge, A bunch of us used to jam at the Crawfish Patio in Lafayette on Saturday & ohhhh the afternoons on the Atchafalaya. Best crabbing I have ever seen is on the dock at the bayou in front of the guard shack at Avery Island.

I miss the whole area!
