Odometer stuck-need advice

My speedometer has worked fine the whole time I have owned my machine (other than half being broken off and laying in the bottom of the gauge). However, the odometer won't turn at all and just recently, the tripometer has also quit. Even twisting the reset knob for trip has no effect other than it rolls past 1111, 2222, 3333, and so on. Do I just need to pull the speedo apart and clean everything, and fix needle while in there, or is there a gear or something needing replaced? If it's gonna require parts, I won't take it apart at the moment, as I don't have a spare gauge laying around. Any input is always appreciated and thanks in advance!
