  • pilot jet rubber plugs 80 XS1100SG

1980 XS1100SG 34mm carbs. Do they use the little rubber plugs on this model. It looks like they are on the parts list but all the carb rebuild kits I find for my model do not include them.

Not all '80 carbs needed them; it appears that they were used on the early '80 units, but the later ones didn't need them. You'll have to check yours to see if you need them....

And to check if you need them you need to see if there is a cross over passage drilled between the main jet tower and the pilot jet tower. If there is a passage drilled between the two then you need the plug. If there is not a passage then you do not need the plug.

          Hi 'gu,
to expand on Nate's post, check the main jet size. If they are 137s, most likely (POs sometimes do really silly things) the idle jets are meant to be fed through the main jets and need the plugs. If the main jets are 110s the idle jets most likely feed from the float bowl and they don't.
If you get the carb kits from MikesXS the plugs are included but don't toss them even if they are not needed.
They are also an exact fit in the access hole for the idle needle where the brass anti-adjustment plug used to be.
