Wade, this will probably turn into a volcano too but unless you have replaced the 30 year old friction discs in your engine stick with the old stuff because the synthetic will cause clutch slip. I'm sticking with the C*****l 4T myself for the engine. Last time I checked the 4T was $.40 cheaper per quart than the dino anyway.

ROYAL PURPLE ALL THE WAY in the middle and final drives though.

    That's my $.0005 worth.

I have replaced my friction disks within the last 10,000 miles and I have Barnett HD springs. I am using the T4 currently but only because it went on sale for $2.99 a quart this spring. I usually pick up the Valvoline MC oil in the spring on sale but they it happened to be the T4 this time. So far I havent noticed a difference other than the label on the Valvoline says designed for wet clutch when the T4 doesnt...

The only reason I asked about the Royal Purple (RP) was b/c I found some on sale for $2.xx a quart when its normally $15! Thought it might be worth a try if anyone had anything good to say about it.

If anyone is successfully running synthetic currently I would like to hear about it... any changes in consumption or clutch compatibility (is it MC or auto oil)..?

I have gone to and from Mobil 1 with no trouble. (no leak, no slip) I have only used the motorcycle specific variety. There is Royal Purple specifically for motorbikes. If that's not what you're considering I would probably avoid it.

I would not hesitate to use this.

          2 cents

just a fyi. i used Motorcycle Specific Mobil 1 Air Cooled specific 20W50 this yr for the first time and have had no clutch issues. as a matter of fact, i use synthetic bike oil in all my bikes cause in my experience it shifts smoother.
this thread was started in ref to the middle and final drives. i know the oil u use is user specific, and i dont like spending the extra $ on synth, but if its smoother and better on cold start ups ill spend the $. just sayin.
i once previously had dino 20W50 in her and when i tried starting her up the first time preseason, i had to jump her off my car to get the oil flowing. it was super thick cause it was in cold temps.
