    Stampede News

Well I did the Stampede on the Kawi. The route started in Barstow, CA and went to Santa Monica, it them followed Hwy 10 to Jacksonville FL. From Jacksonville we went north to Pinebluff, NC. The total distance was right at 3000 miles. I had some mechanical difficulties and lost about five hours fixing stuff. I finished 4th with a time of 49hours 51minutes. Not too shabby considering the bike was a hardtail.

I then rode to Beckley, WV and got a new starter clutch installed and then rode home. I've got photos and info on my blog. Thanks for your help. I know this was not about an XS11 but it was a great adventure and I thought that you would be interested.

That is an incredible time! Cross country and a little more in less than fifty hours? Holy sheeeit, you da man.

Lotsa competition and cameraderie on a ride like that. The party at the end musta been a great time, swapping road stories and adventures...

      Way to go.

          Smoke out

The idea of The Stampede is to end up at The Smoke Out, which is held at the Rockingham Speedway. I had no idea what to expect, but it was so fun. Nobody was trying to show how tough they were, no law enforcement show of force, just guys and girls having a good time, and lots of bikes.

I did a 1500 in 24hrs a while ago but I didn’t think the Iron Butt Association would approve of The Stampede being a race,

Any how it was a great adventure, I find myself thinking about it a lot. Next year they are talking about a 550cc limit on the bikes. How about an XJ 550!
