starter will role motor by just switching key on ??

I have an electrical gremlin I need help sorting out ,the bike has intermiten spark , will spark when it wants to , sometimes I just turn on the key and the starter will role the motor just abuot a quarter revolution,

and with the key on I grab the spark plug wire and the dam plug will spark when it gets close to the metal head, I dont even touch the button ???

any ideas help me chase this gremlin away all thoughts and help welcome !!!

Sounds to me like you have a short in or around the starter solenoid.

Yeah, or the starter switch.

I thought that too but that wouldn't allow spark, I don't think.

You can hotwire the thing at the solenoid.
