Steve, the connectors on my bike were too old to hold.

I wound up cutting off the connectors and using ring terminals with brass screws at the rectifier and more at the ignition switch/battery/switched power connection up by the headlight.

It's definitely not as easy to work on but I haven't had to do any more electrical work since I replaced the connectors, either.

Ah, yes, I know what you mean about the connectors. I've had more than a few that regularly got everything from blasted by road grime to decades of soaking under weeping valve cover gaskets and they lasted for years with no problems, ever, but these Yamaha connectors seem to be allergic to electrons or something.

I remember you mentioning those Deutsch plugs and the crimper. I'm going to have to look into them. Ring terminals and brass screws work fine but they're a wee bit fiddly in the dark and the rain, which is usually when this stuff fails for me and I do stuff like drop one of the brass nuts and it rolls off somewhere never to be seen again by mortal man.
