  • Is there something wrong here?-Electrical

I am leary of the upgrade by PO. Found a 7.5 fuse in one slot. Headlight still not operating right high beam is not as bright as low beam. Already took switch apart and everything fine inside no loose connections etc...
Should the same color wires be buddied up into same connector?
One set of the brown wires on the left are a heavier gauge than the other two there is no mention of this in the wiring diagram.
    Diagram shows
    blue > blue
    brown > red/yellow
    brown > brown
    brown > red/white

Has anyone found an upgrade for the auxiliary output?

Yes that is wrong, those fuses aren't doing a thing. If you are going to run a 'gang' type box you have to use the common post in the center bottom of your pic. Check out post #23 in this thread...

Phil is right, those fuses are just eyewash...

But you can't 'gang' it like in the post Phil shows as your bike is wired differently from the '78-79 bikes; you need four fuses. You really need to get one of TCs fuseboxes to make that right.

As far as hurting anything, as long as nothing has melted or smoked, you're OK. The fuses are only there for when things go wrong...

Got one in hand as I suspected it was not right from day one
          Need a picture of a "H" that's wired correctly.

            I think I got it.
I will keep the heavier gauge browns together, I guess it doesn't matter which lighter gauge brown I use with r/y and r/w, right?
Also it doesn't say what size fuse to use for each.

              You don't need a pic...

Cut all those wires loose, and then with the key on, you'll find the two smaller browns have 12v on them, one of the larger browns will, and one of the blues will. Mark these, and connect them to either the top or bottom spades feeding a fuse (one each). Connect the other blue to the same fuse as the blue, the larger brown to the larger brown, and the red/white and red/yellow to either of the other browns (these don't matter, as they both come from the same place). The blue is your tail/running lights, the red/yellow is your head/instrument lights, the red/white is ignition, and the large browns are everything else; turn sigs, horn, brake light, etc. Use a 20 amp on the large browns, 10 amp on the others. If you want to move your 'main' fuse into this (should be in a rubber housing at the top left to your battery), simply drag those two red wires to the panel, hook them across a 30 amp fuse and you're good to go.

                God bless you
p.s. would you know what the total amp rating is for TC's panel. Will it also handle the 30a main and a 12v auxiliary output that I plan to install?

This panel really doesn't have a 'rating'; each fuse slot is good for a 30 amp fuse, so unless you hook something up wrong you can't hurt it.

If you're going to put in a extra power point, feed it off the fused side of the 'main' fuse, and don't use larger than a 10 amp fuse. This will be unswitched (always 'hot'), but is the best choice; this is the way the OEM 'power point' is connected. To make it switched, you'd have to tap into either the blue or brown 'hots' at the fuse panel, but that may put too much load on the ignition switch contacts.

                    Gotcha
That would come into play if I was doing a block fuse panel, right?
I plan to put a cigarette lighter type power point for cell phone, gps use etc..., 10a good enough?

Had to edit this just realized it's my 100th post!

You already have that extra power point though, by the looks of the photo. You have the 'auxiliary power point' under the clear plastic cover. It's already fused. You just use the two screws to connect up your cigarette lighter point.....

Oh right. Presumably you're going to put in a 5 or 6 blade box then?

Oops... just read that you posted this.....

I think one option could be to replace the PO fuse thing with a regular 4 way and use a 1 way box to replace the auxiliary. I replaced mine with a 4 way but left the auxiliary as-is because I rarely use it....

Correct. What is that box to the left of the fuse box that has a feed from the battery called?
