You're lucky if you can feel the tip of the needle sticking out. I think it's easier this way. I was able to do two carbs using the "internal press" method that I think you're referring to. I soaked and re-soaked and re-soaked the needles with Sea Foam Deep Creep over a period of at least a week. Once you get the needle to actually move flush with the chamber wall, it will take just a little pit of prying with a pick to move it the rest of the way.
It will eventually work. If I did it, you can to.

I had to deal with this about 2 months ago. Mine were really stuck, 1 of the came out with the push pin pry method. Give that a try first and try to get quality pins. The really cheap ones the plastic break easily and the pin is crap. If that doesnt work get some mechanic picks and get a little midevil with them. Whiskey helps! They will fall out with some work just dont give up.'78E

I have used a nut and bolt as a screw jack to push the broken tip out. You need a bolt a tiny bit shorter than the space . Put a nut on the bolt and with two wrenches unscrew the nut. It will force the busted tip upwards. Go slow, use penetrating spray and a soldering iron to heat the tip. The heat will help draw the penetrating spray in and may pop it loose.

ok i got the 2 tips out and reset all the screws to 2 turns out the bike runs really good now but i cant set the idle. then i noticed the bike is smoking i looked into the megaphone and culd see oil or gas in it. i shut the bike off and wiped it out but it had no smell to it but it looks like oil or something. should i be concerned about this?

Not going to get far with the the broken tips.
When you get replacement mixture needles about 2 turns out is a decent start but you do need to sync and tune properly.Nathan
