  • Stumbles when wet

I have a 79 special I bought out of a field. It has really been running great but when I wash it or ride in the ran it really runs like crap. It stumbles until it dries out but will idle pretty well. I'm ready to look for the problem. Spark plug wires? How do you replade them on stock coils? Any ideas or other thoughts?

Most likely issue is the plug wires, others have found cracked coils, could be water getting into your timing area.

There is a tech tip on replacing stock plug wires on stock coils. Kind of involved, but I have seen it done by DBeardslee a couple times.
