This one had me stumped for a while so thought I'd post this in case you're having similar problems. Rear brake switch developed an internal short to the 'pull rod', which, of course, is connected to frame ground via the spring. Viola - operate brake- blow fuse. I didn't make the mental connection between the brake and the problem right away, 'cause I lost turn, tach function, oil, neutral and stop light all at once. So wylie coyote super genius started troubleshooting inside the headlight bucket DOH!

Fortunately, these things are available at about $5. Being a skinflint, I tried fixing mine when it kept sticking in the ON position. Then I reflected on just how important that switch is when there's someone behind. I binned it and bought a new one........XS1100F 1980 European model. Standard. Dyna coils. Iridium plugs. XS750 final drive (sometimes). Micron fork brace. Progressive front springs. Geezer regulator/rectifier. Stainless 4 into 2 exhaust. Auto CCT (Venturer 1300) SOLD. New project now on the go. 1980 European model.
