  • Carb Holder Air Barb Replacement

    Hi foks,

Recently, by reasons unknown to myself, the air barb on #1 carb of my '80 SG has going missing. I know mikesxs sells complete holders, but is there anywhere I could buy just the holder pin and the cap (short of a junkyard?). Obviously the bike is running very rough currently, so I am currently looking for either a temporary quick fix to plug it or somewhere to buy a replacement pin. My holders are in pretty good condition so I would rather not buy the whole shebang at the moment..

currently using a small piece of thin sheet metal & electrical tape to keep the hole covered, but the engine still seems to be running too lean. Any other type of temp. fix for the interim til I can get a replacement barb/holder would be appreciated.

I would do as suggested, put a screw in it. For better sealing then you could cover the screw head with some RTV sealant. Should last until you need to do a carb synch at which point you'll need the barb again.

You can usually find single intake boots on ebay. They are used though. Never looked to see how proud the sellers are of the parts though.

Plus the ones sold by MikesXS won't work on an XS1100 anyways, the 650 uses different carb holders.
