  • Busted stator cover...Suggestions?

On the way back from the Home Depot yesterday, I took a spill doing 25 and smashed my stator cover into more than 10 pieces. Lost about a quart and a half of oil on the road. Got a new cover just now. Anything I need to know, or is it just a matter of putting on the new cover, replacing the oil, and movin' on down the road?

Where did the oil come from? There is a plug just below the stator rotor here....

That is an oil galley plug that only has an O-ring, nothing holds it in but the cover. If the engine was running when the cover got broken it may have blown out.

That could be the source of the oil loss.
