  • Amazing what the right plugs will do...

So when I bought this bike a few months ago, the PO told me that it had new plugs in it, but they weren't the right heat range. It ran seemingly okay, so I have been puttering around on it until now.

Decided to change out the plugs for the right NGK B6ES plugs -- I had ordered them before I took ownership of the bike, and was tired of looking at them.

When I pulled out the old plugs, not only were they the wrong plug -- they were two types of the wrong plug. I had two B7ES and two BP6HS! Man, they were carbon-covered and fouled.

Bike purrs like a kitten with the new plugs in it .

Since I ran the wrong plugs for a few months, do I need to run some Seafoam through or will it be fine as it is?

Fresh plugs do indeed make a difference! As far as the Seafoam - it certainly can't hurt either way. Same for Marvel Mystery oil.

If you're talking about running it through the oil, only if you think there is crud built up inside the engine from the oil not being changed on time, and DO NOT RIDE with it in there, you stand a good chance of ruining bearings if you do, it thins the oil when it there, it's an idle with no load teatment. If you're talking about in the gas, it's not going to have any affect at all on any carbon build up in the combustion chambers, it's a fuel system cleaner, and will clean out the carbs and tank, and IMHO is a good thing to run through every few months, I run about 1/3 can with a full tank on my standard about every 3 months. Unless there are other symptoms going on, just run it for a while, and some hard runs to heat things up and the carbon should for the most part burn right out of there.
