Spark plug wires on my 1979 1100F are original and crusty. I had to trim one back so far to get away from corrosion it was almost too short. Anyway I followed the steps and ground away at the housings to reveal the oem wire. I did have to take a long thin flat screwdriver and clearance around the peg in the coil so my new wire would shove in all the and and seat. I used Permatex black (I already had it) as a sealant and adhesive for the fresh wire. New wires and new plug caps and the thing runs even better than before! (Ran very well for hardened corroded wires to boot) Shame on Yamaha for having the plug wire molded into the coils. (My 1978 XS750E had the wires replaceable.) Thank you XS11.com for the money saving and sensible tip! Clutch material inspection and new springs are next.
