Thanks, Scott! 1 and 4 plugs keep fouling and she runs like crap mid-range. I have adjusted the carbs, and checked for vacuum leaks, next up is tugging on the wires.

Got the 11 back yesterday and unfortunately replacing the pick up wires didn't fix my stutter/miss when accelerating at cruising speed. the shop checked the coils and they seemed fine so must be something in the carbs. Generally runs fine so may give it a few hundred miles of driving with sea foam to see if it self corrects. I'll pull the cover off and re-check the advance and the work the shop did.1978 XS1100

so finally got around to pulling the carbs off the bike and redid the cleaning thing. picked up a digtial caliper to do float height. A couple were off just a bit. Must have been some dirt somewhere because the beast woke up. It ran ok before, but would miss trying to accelerate at highway speeds, missed at over 6,500 rpm and wouldn't go above 80. All that's changed. tried seafoam, MMO etc, first. Good cleaning is what she needed, plus the floats re-set. hooked up to synch but they were spot on. Still need to set air screws, right now I've go them 1 1/4 turns out.1978 XS1100

If you re-set FUEL-mix screws(air-mix if they are between air-filter and carb, fuel mix if between carb and manifold intake), you WILL have to re-sync.......then again fine tune mix........re-sync again.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.
