  • Rear wheel assembly question

Does the flanged spacer in the rear wheel need to be perfectly round? Took my assembly apart and the flanged spacer was warped a bit. Does this affect how the wheel spins at all and do I need a new spacer? If so where can I get one?
    Thanks

The actual flange is what I am talking about, the main body is round still

Which 'spacer' are you talking about? If you're referring to the plastic cover on the splined drive side of the wheel, as long as it doesn't scrape it'll be fine. If you mean the spacer/dust shield on the brake side, you need to make sure it's not dragging on the inner seal. It doesn't rotate, so as long as you have clearance to the seal, it's fine...

The large flange area rides lightly against the wheel seal which turns with the wheel. Will be a judgment call on your part as to whether it is a problem. After fully assembled roll the wheel and see if it is wearing the seal. If not then its probably not an issue as it also seals where it fits in the seal at the bearing race.

I kinda reformed it and the flange actually moves along the tube, so I repositioned it slightly off the right side bearing. It is smaller than the bearing so it doesn't ride the inside wall of the wheel. Not worried. Thanks for the replies. Just mounted and balanced and it seemed fine. now back to the brakes
