    XJ1100 Throttle Cable

The throttle cable on my 82 finally snapped. Yamaha lists them as no longer available. Will an XS1100 cable work or is there an aftermarket one available.

Those are super easy to make yourself. Just keep the outer casing and then get the cable and two ends, solder and your there. Don't pay those ridiculous Yamaha prices when you don't have to.

Just out of idle curiosity, where did it snap? And how was the break? Did it snap all the strands at the same place, or were there different lengths of broken strands?
The reason I ask is because I just got an XJ, and one of the things I do is to tiewrap an exrta cable for the clutch and throttle along side of the ones on there.
So knowing how yours broke will let me inspect mine to see if it is wearing, and why it is wearing.
Thanks for any info you would care to share. CZ

Snapped at the ball joint at the end of the cable, the ball joint is gone.

Should be able to get one from Chacal at the XJ bikes forum. Part # HCP2700 on page 5, section M, $26.

This thread has a lot of good info on the actual how-to.

I carry a couple of replacement barrels held on with a set screw in my toolbag for emergencies. They are available at almost any auto parts store.

After searching the Yamaha part # (10M-26311-00-00), it looks like it is unobtanium, you might have to repair yours. 82 XJ11 only cable.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like a repair job is required.
