  • Help with model ID 1980 XS-1000 special

I need help determing the model ID of a 1980 XS-1000 special.

I ordered fork seals and wipers but got the wrong sized ones.

My originals are huge compared to what I got from partsnmore.

    my fault of course.

The new wipers will nearly fit inside of the ones I need to replace.

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey George,

Your bike would be called an 80SG, but the way PNM has the parts listed, it's either the 78-80 Stds.....size 37 x 49 x 8 but the Specials....it's shown under the PRICE....shows size 37 x 48 x 10.5 . The XS1100"S" is their designation for all specials.

The Wipers are not as clearly labelled? Most likely you got the ones for the 80-81"L" MNS....but it shows an XJ part #, the 81MNS was very close to the 82XJ in brake parts, and probably also the forks.

So...you probably needed to order the sliders/dust boots that say for the 78-79 XS1100, it's the only other parts choice for them besides the larger/taller ones for the XJ.
