Are your gauges chrome or black?

My MNS has a black metal ring around the face of the gauges. This is the ring that hold the glass in and is a pain to remove, and almost impossible without damaging it somehow. I recently dropped my gauges when I was working on the front end, and dented that black metal ring on BOTH gauges. I also noticed when I went to replace a bulb in my speedo that the actual plastic housing of the speedo is severely cracked.

Now, my question is, do all the Specials have a black metal ring, or just some, or just the MNS's? I think I've seen black rings on regular Specials, but I'm not sure. I'd kinda like to replace them, to get rid of the dented ones, but I need to be sure I am looking for the right replacements.

I've never seen any XS gauges where the retaining/sealing ring wasn't black. I think this was done for 'safety' reasons, to prevent glare from a polished surface.

Thanks guys. I guess I can just look for any '80-'81 gauges (to keep the 85mph stock speedo).
