  • New Speedo cable question

Before installing a new speedometer cable on my Special, should I put cable lube in it first, and if so what does everyone recommend / think is the best to use, spray lube, black grafite, or?

I use white grease. Doesn't freeze up (not that cold where I live), repels water that might seep into the housing, prohibits rust, chance to inspect the new cable BEFORE it goes on ... just in case.

      Speedo cable lubing

I usually use white lithium grease as well. Caution, do not get carried away and use a lot. Have seen and heard of cases were when speedo cables are over lubricated that with the spirel effect of the turning cable the excess climbs up the cable into the speedo head. This can gum up the speedo portion of the speedometer.
