some close up pics of the knee indents on the standards. I am trying to get a good idea of who they were painted and am trying to figure out where the paint lines need to be so I can mask things off when I get to that point.

when i get home
i can take some on mine...but mine isn't stock - still think it looks that way...i followed the ridge - i used tape i cut into 1/8" strips to curve it - if you can buy pinstripe tape or thin masking tape do it cuz cutting it down was a pita....

yeah I have some 1/8th striping tape. As I look at the lines actually formed in the tank they just sort of fade away and dont seem to follow all the way to an edge anywhere that is why I want some good pics from people.Nathan

I just went with one color for mine (ok, being that it's a color changing paint, it's like 5 but you get the point) and no pinstriping. But my tank did have the original markings still on it (the replacement tank did at least, my original tank is sitting on my parts frame cause it's so rusty I don't trust it), but I sanded all that down cause I wanted a solid color anyways. I plan the same thing for my fairing, but I'm waiting till I get a paint gun and the dryer to go with it (to keep crap out of the air while painting) so I can put a few coats of 2 part clear over the paint job once it cures. I figure I'll put my backup fairing on first, which means I gotta find turn signal lenses for it .Cy

I'm thinking about finding replacement turn signals for it altogether, since they are not marker lights like on my IV (it's a III). I was thinking of finding a nice set of standard front turn signals and putting on it, and painting it to match the bike and mounting it while I paint the IV really nice (I'd just do an OK job on the III). I was thinking about getting rid of the extra fairing at one point, but now I'm thinking I'm gonna keep it around as a hot spare, and even get another windshield on it, and maybe even switch between them for a winter and summer one.Cy
